We are excited to offer Aerial Yoga at our studio by partnering with Grounding Willows Yoga.
Aerial Yoga takes the gravity out of your practice so you can fly. This specialized type of yoga is similar to yoga on your mat but uses a soft, silky hammock suspended from the ceiling to aid in deep stretching, core strengthening, and decompressing of joints.
In each class, the instructor will give you safety rules and help you adjust your silk to the correct height for your body size and skill level. Classes are small (no larger than 7 students) to allow for individual instruction. You will need your yoga mat for class. During an aerial yoga class you will be safely led through simple stretches and basic yoga poses that use the hammocks or silks to deepen your poses. Once you are warmed up, classes will include total body strengthening and deeper stretching. Classes will end with restorative poses to decompress joints and to allow for deep relaxation.
We currently offer Aerial Yoga at the following times:
Wednesdays 9:30-10:30am - Aerial Fitness - this class focuses on building core and upper body strength as well as prepare you to do tricks
Saturdays 11:00am - 12:00pm - Aerial Basics - this class will slow things down for beginners as well as provide a full body workout
Sundays 3:00 - 4:00pm - Restorative Aerial - this class uses the silks to provide deep stretch and relaxation - reservations are required for this class
To reserve a class, please click on our Schedule page and click the "Sign Up" button to register. Classes are an additional charge (see below).
Arrive at least 15 minutes before class to ensure you have time to get adjusted for your silk and complete paperwork. Bring your yoga mat as part of this class starts on your mat. You MUST remove all jewelry (rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. to prevent tearing the silk or getting caught in the silks). Wear shirts with sleeves and leggings (men too) to avoid silk burn on skin.
