Jeffrey Wedelich

Jeffrey believes that yoga has the power to reduce stress and promote physical healing. He teaches a class that focuses on breath and well-being, while still providing opportunities for improvements in strength and flexibility. He offers a simple approach to make progress accessible to the intermediate student. Jeffrey hopes to make it as easy as possible for people to discover the benefits of yoga. Jeffrey took his first yoga class in 2006, not realizing that vinyasa would soon become an integral part of his life. He received his 200-hour RYT certification from Awakened Yoga in 2014. He has experience working as a personal trainer, is a proficient kick-boxer, and is learning gymnastics. Jeffrey received a BS in Engineering Science from Trinity University in 2007. His passions for athleticism and longevity have made him an ongoing student of nutrition.

Georgia Roberts

I have done yoga on and off for about 9 years now. Some of my “off” periods were close to a year long, so I’m very comfortable with being a beginner. That’s one of the reasons I love yoga- it always meets you where you are. The only requirement is that you have breath flowing throughout your body. I started to deepen my practice in late 2016, when I was having the most trouble with my sleep. The side effects of not sleeping had me diagnosed with various disorders that I was being medicated for. I’d lost my sense of self and was stuck in a job that drained me of what little energy I had. All I knew was that even when I felt my lowest, an hour on my mat could quiet everything else and allow me to reconnect with my body. No longer was I living outside of my skin, a stranger inhabiting some foreign body. If my body wouldn’t allow me to sleep, at least I could get it to follow my inhales and exhales and take back some of my power where I felt I had lost so much of it. In early 2017 I was fired from that job after about the 100th time I physically couldn’t leave my bed for my office (but seriously when you’re only allowed a REM cycle how are you supposed to move your limbs???). 2017 was a year of more doctors and medicine trials and failures and finally I was diagnosed with narcolepsy. My current doctor is the one who suggested I do my 4th sleep study and he gave me back my life. Once I started sleeping again, I started waking up (pun so very intended) to myself and what I wanted to do with my time. When a friend who teaches yoga in California suggested I teach because I could do that with narcolepsy, I felt like I had to find a training right away. I am so grateful for my past because it makes me love my present. I love yoga because it’s been there through every up and down (dog). And I love teaching at awakened because you guys teach me about myself.

When I’m not at the studio you can catch me running, meditating, obsessing over essential oils, writing, or cooking!

Grace Kubecka

Grace teaches a lively, sweaty, and FUN class emphasizing living your life fully and not taking yourself too seriously. Her classes will challenge you and yet release stuff inside... you'll see that yoga goes beyond the poses - there's more - the stuff underneath - that's where the real yoga is.
Grace's yoga journey began in 2000 by attending a yoga class on a whim thinking it would be a boring hour of breathing and stretching. Instead she found herself challenged - body, mind and soul. Instantly addicted, she has been practicing ever since. In 2006, Grace started teaching and spreading the yoga joy! Grace spent her childhood in Houston and has been living in Sugar Land since 2004. She is a wife to a super-tolerant husband and a mother to two energetic boys. Her original career path was climbing the corporate ladder in the field of human resources for over 15 years, and after having two of the cutest boys you'll ever meet, Grace decided to take her passion to the next level and opened Awakened Yoga Studio in Sugar Land in early 2010. It's been a passionate whirlwind ever since!
Grace has completed trainings with a variety of teachers including Baron Baptiste and Ana Forest. Her primary style of teaching is power vinyasa flow but she's been known to teach anything from restorative to Ashtanga! She has also been leading teacher trainings since 2011.

Amanda Kocurek

Amanda finished her yoga instructor training earlier this year and is also certified to teach SUP yoga. Off the mat, she is a Montessori teacher, working with children (18-36 months ) for the last 9 years. "Bringing yoga into my classroom was my research project and I was amazed at how the children took to it, they wanted to do it, they asked to do it. I truly believe the breath of life and how to use it should be taught very early in life. I teach breathing techniques in my class everyday."
Amanda has been practicing yoga for the last ten years. Going through the training was such an amazing and badass experience for her. "Not only did I deepen my practice but my spirituality deepened too. I gained a lot of confidence in myself and was able to let go of the baggage and create space for new positive things in my life."

Yoga has taught her self love and to be OK with her authentic self even if someone doesn't like it. "I've learned that I'm in competition with no one. I have no desire to play the game of being better than anyone. I am simply trying to be better than the person I was yesterday. I'm stoked to be at Awakened Yoga Studio. See you on the mat."

Amber C. Callahan

Amber Callahan is a mom to two boys, yogi, practices Jiu Jitsu, weight lifter, certified personal trainer and nutrition coach, Arbonne consultant, and plant based diet enthusiast. She began practicing yoga just over a year ago after battling chronic physical conditions from years of heavy weight training and running and training for marathons. What she found when she started practicing consistently was that her body healed physically from injuries and stayed strong. In addition to the physical benefits, Amber has also found that yoga has helped her on an emotional and spiritual level as she has learned to carry yoga principles off the mat, as well. She received her 200 hour yoga certification through Awakened Yoga and also holds a certification as a personal trainer and nutrition coach.
This is an all-level vinyasa practice where poses are explored beyond the basics and at a faster pace. This class is appropriate for ambitious beginners and long time practitioners.
