Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy is an Ancient Chinese method using glass or plastic cups to create localized pressure by forming a vacuum.   The vacuum inside the cups causes the oxygen rich blood to form in the area and helps the healing process.  Massage therapy research has proven this method successful in treating muscle spasms and myofascial tension.  Another healing aspect of cupping therapy is through the release of toxins in your body.  The suction from the cups can penetrate deep into your tissues causing the tissues to release harmful toxins.  It triggers the lymphatic system, clears the blood vessels, and stretches and activates the skin.  Cupping therapy has been found in ancient records dating back 3500 years and it is still used today by many alternative medicine practitioners.  .

TMJ Release

The muscles of the jaw are some of the most powerful muscles of the body. This treatment uses myofascial release on the jaw, head and neck muscles to calm the nervous system and alleviate pain and tension.  It's important to communicate with your practitioner because although this treatment can be uncomfortable, it should not cause pain.  Trigger points are common in this area, and when released,  you will feel the tension dissipate.

Pre- & Post-Yoga Massage

A Swedish massage can relax your body and be a therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and trigger point therapy to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. Massage can help prevent injuries before practice by warming the muscle tissue and can also help to prevent common injuries when administered after a strenuous heated flow class as it helps to return the muscles to their relaxed state.

Specific Injury Treatment

This treatment will include massage therapy at a specific site on the body to relieve pain associated with injury recovery. Massage for sports injuries is usually used in the treatment of sprains and strains and trigger points. “Trigger points” are not bruises but are commonly thought of as knots in the muscles, or points of tension. Trigger points are painful to the touch. Massage helps relax the muscle groups involved. Various massage techniques are used depending on the injury. These techniques are effective for the reduction of hypersensitivity, pain and muscle spasms that are experienced at trigger points. This can help prevent a future injury because it can prevent instinctively favoring one limb over the other due to painful trigger points. . Massage allows athletes to heal faster from injuries by improving circulation to the injured area. It also increases flexibility and the range of motion of athletes, reducing the occurrence of injuries.

Lymphatic Flow

The Lymphatic System removes cellular waste, proteins, excess fluid, viruses and bacteria. Lymphatic massage is a healing, gentle pressure technique and can benefit just about everyone. If your feeling low on energy or if you've been sick, lymph massage can help get your body back on track. Athletes, fibromyalgia and chronic fatique sufferers can also benefit. After injuries, lymph vessels can become overwhelmed. When the tissue is swollen, deep tissue techniques may actually cause damage to the vessels and surrounding structures. Lymphatic massage helps the body remove waste and reduce swelling healing the body faster.
