Grace teaches a lively, sweaty, and FUN class emphasizing living your life fully and not taking yourself too seriously. Her classes will challenge you and yet release stuff inside... you'll see that yoga goes beyond the poses - there's more - the stuff underneath - that's where the real yoga is. Grace's yoga journey began in 2000 by attending a yoga class on a whim thinking it would be a boring hour of breathing and stretching. Instead she found herself challenged - body, mind and soul. Instantly addicted, she has been practicing ever since. In 2006, Grace started teaching and spreading the yoga joy! Grace spent her childhood in Houston and has been living in Sugar Land since 2004. She is a wife to a super-tolerant husband and a mother to two energetic boys. Her original career path was climbing the corporate ladder in the field of human resources for over 15 years, and after having two of the cutest boys you'll ever meet, Grace decided to take her passion to the next level and opened Awakened Yoga Studio in Sugar Land in early 2010. It's been a passionate whirlwind ever since! Grace has completed trainings with a variety of teachers including Baron Baptiste and Ana Forest. Her primary style of teaching is power vinyasa flow but she's been known to teach anything from restorative to Ashtanga! She has also been leading teacher trainings since 2011. "Believe in something big. Your life is worth a noble motive." - Walter Anderson
Jamie started working at the studio in August 2011 after being a stay-at-home mom for 15 years. She began her practice at Awakened Yoga in January 2011 and decided to join the team after Grace posed the question: “Do you want to work barefoot?” Upon hearing that question, Jamie jumped at the chance to discover her love of people, yoga and retail. She has lived in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area for over 20 years and is married with two kids in college. (An almost empty nester!)  Jamie serves as a Yogi Concierge and instructor.   She loves sharing her love of yoga and chatting with clients.

Traci Hoffman is a free spirited child of hippies cleverly disguised as a responsible adult. She has a heart for bhakti style yoga and it shows in her teaching. A student of yoga off and on for 20 years she abandoned her professional career as a nurse and got her RYT-200 from Awakened Yoga in Sugarland. She also holds a certificate in Yin Yoga from Yoga One. Traci teaches an unpredictable, fun, spirited and dedicated flow.

In addition to teaching Traci is our Studio Manager.

She balances her love for yoga with her family. Traci and her husband Kevin have five children (ranging in ages 22-6) and two dogs. She enjoys live music and bad reality television. When you can’t find her on her mat she will more than likely be either on stage or lurking backstage at a local community theatre.

A student of meditation and the yoga philosophy Traci weaves these concepts into her classes. She credits yoga and her beliefs in helping her through the death of her oldest son and her mother’s cancer. Traci has a heart for service and you will find her volunteering her services to those in need and raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer (ask her about her purple hair).

Erin grew up in Wichita, Kansas and moved to the Houston area in 2010. She completed her SUP Teacher Training in August of 2014 and finished her 200 hour yoga teacher training with Awakened Yoga in March 2015.In May 2015 Erin opened up Awakened Yoga SUP, because yoga on water is unlike anything else. Being on the water and taking a yoga class lets you connect with nature and become completely immersed in your senses and in the Pillars of Baptiste Yoga.

Currently Erin is working towards becoming a certified Baptiste Yoga Teacher, she completed Art of True North Alignment Training in April 2015 and she recently completed Level One training in February 2016.

When Erin isn't in the yoga studio she keeps herself pretty busy... she is very passionate about being a wife and mom, plus she loves cooking, gardening, sewing, photography, painting and DIYs! Yoga has given Erin the complete mind, body and soul connection that she has always desired and she can't wait to share her experience with you.

Aline is a spirited teacher who was initially drawn to yoga to find her breath and found it to be completely transforming! She feels deeply that changing the way we breath can be life changing and life altering. Aline has specialized yoga certifications in Vinyasa yoga, Yin Yoga, Stand Up Paddle board Yoga, Advanced Ana Forrest training, and Functional Yoga Anatomy. Having discovered an intense passion for healing touch, she is also certified in Thai yoga Bodywork and is an Advanced Reiki III practitioner. She loves teaching Vinyasa flow and incorporates multiple lineages of yoga in designing a creative and inspiring class. You can expect sankalpa (intention) with a little bit of playfulness mixed in. She has studied with and has been inspired by many teachers and considers us all teachers. Aline is proud to serve the Houston community monthly as an Ambassador to the Breakfast Yoga Club.

Her passion is to help others find their own passions in life by spreading love and inspiration. It is her deepest desire that you are challenged and leave class or a session changed, and that change brings you more joy. Whether you are looking for a physically challenging yoga class or a real opportunity to go within yourself and heal your soul through other modalities, Aline provides the environment to accomplish whatever it is you seek. She continues to study and learn by attending various trainings to develop her skills in healing modalities.

Amanda finished her yoga instructor training earlier this year and is also certified to teach SUP yoga. Off the mat, she is a Montessori teacher, working with children (18-36 months ) for the last 9 years. "Bringing yoga into my classroom was my research project and I was amazed at how the children took to it, they wanted to do it, they asked to do it. I truly believe the breath of life and how to use it should be taught very early in life. I teach breathing techniques in my class everyday."

Amanda has been practicing yoga for the last ten years. Going through the training was such an amazing and badass experience for her. "Not only did I deepen my practice but my spirituality deepened too. I gained a lot of confidence in myself and was able to let go of the baggage and create space for new positive things in my life."

Yoga has taught her self love and to be OK with her authentic self even if someone doesn't like it. "I've learned that I'm in competition with no one. I have no desire to play the game of being better than anyone. I am simply trying to be better than the person I was yesterday. I'm stoked to be at Awakened Yoga Studio. See you on the mat."

Amber Callahan is a mom to two boys, yogi, practices Jiu Jitsu, weight lifter, certified personal trainer and nutrition coach, Arbonne consultant, and plant based diet enthusiast. She began practicing yoga just over a year ago after battling chronic physical conditions from years of heavy weight training and running and training for marathons. What she found when she started practicing consistently was that her body healed physically from injuries and stayed strong. In addition to the physical benefits, Amber has also found that yoga has helped her on an emotional and spiritual level as she has learned to carry yoga principles off the mat, as well. She received her 200 hour yoga certification through Awakened Yoga and also holds a certification as a personal trainer and nutrition coach.
Amy Foster has been teaching yoga since 2012. She is ERYT 200, which means she has taught over 1,000 hours. Her certifications continue into RPYT as the highest certified prenatal yoga teacher. Her love for family has led her to be a Doula. CAPPA trained (meaning internationally recognized) she is both knowledgeable and expertly trained to help women give birth.

She is an inspirational and motivational teacher who gives you newfound confidence. Her classes remind your body of its ability to heal, strengthen, and evolve both on and off the mat. She creates a welcoming and supportive space for students to play, learn, and have fun breaking down barriers on and off the mat. She can teach a variety of classes that has room for all levels of practice including:
Vinyasa flows
Aerial Yoga

Everyone will be challenged in a safe and nurturing environment. By way of intelligent sequencing combined with her deep understanding and knowledge of anatomy and physiology, Amy’s classes are designed to help you breathe, move and stretch more skillfully.

Prenatal students in her class will feel a sense of community in the room and will leave with a renewed sense of being. Her goal in teaching prenatal is to get you to move at your own pace, and help you understand what to expect in your pregnancy. Her training as a Doula has given her the unique position to help expecting mothers properly prepare for their birth through both yoga and community.

Amy spent the first 18 years of her life dreaming of becoming a prima ballerina. It was when she realized that wasn’t practical, that she found yoga. She began practicing Hatha Yoga in college, and in 2000, fell in love with Bikram Yoga. She graduated her 9 week intensive training in Los Angeles in 2002, and opened her own studio in Sugar Land in 2006, which she maintained until 2013, when she decided that her time was better served taking care of her six little munchkins at home. These days, Amy is thrilled to bring Hot Yoga to AY, and when she’s not chasing after her husband and kids, or sticking her nose in a book, you can find her working on her newest yoga love, vinyasa flow!
Beth is delighted to be a part of the Awakened Yoga community! She began a sporadic yoga practice ten years ago, but has recently committed herself to make it part of her everyday lifestyle.

Prior to joining AY, Beth worked as a television/radio broadcaster in her native Amarillo. Upon moving to Sugar Land, she taught school. When not behind the AY desk, Beth serves as an area college representative for FIDM, an art, design, and business college based in Los Angeles. An avid vintage clothing and accessory collector, she's occasionally called upon to conduct 'out of the box' style seminars. She's overly enthusiastic about colors, textures, and anything off the beaten path.

Beth enjoys sewing, knitting, and needlepoint. She has a deranged obsession with old movies and the stars of yesteryear. She is married to singer/songwriter/ musician Kent Newman of the band Rat Ranch. They strive to make their life as cartoonish as possible and are the proud parents of three incredibly spoiled and occasionally obnoxious cats.

Brynn Scally received her 200-hour yoga certification in 2012 through Awakened Yoga. Brynn teaches a dynamic, rhythmic flow that emphasizes tapping into individual feelings and sensations and bringing students inward to challenge personal boundaries and limiting beliefs. She has taken workshops from Seane Corn, Bryan Kest, Ana Forest, Christina Sell and finished the Baptiste Art of Assisting program in 2014. She lives in Sugar Land with her husband of almost 20 years, two girls and two dogs.
Camille began her practice in college in a simple quest to find something after dance. Since then she has fallen for the practice and studies whenever possible. She teaches a playful practice that encourages the accessibility of postures through props, practice, and laughter.
She completed her 200 RYT with Gioconda Parker.
Chinelo began her yoga journey in 2011 to balance her rigorous training in dance. When she felt mind and body connection in yoga, there was no going back. Chinelo received her RYT200 Yoga Alliance certification through Awakened Yoga Studio’s Spring 2015 Teacher Training. Her favorite yoga style is vinyasa with yin and Forrest tied as runners-up. Ever since she cultivated a dedicated yoga practice, she’s become more mindful, centered, and adventurous. She loves guiding students to become more rooted in themselves while having a laugh. When she’s not teaching, you can find her cracking jokes at the front desk, learning new Afro-pop dance moves, or swimming in Spirit’s pool.
